![]() I just don't particularly care for the motion sensor experience of a loud click and bright lights as soon as I enter the room. A fifteen minute timer is more than ample for most purposes, but if you walk in on a "stale" running timer you may get the lights shut off on you. This is fine unless two people use the bathroom in quick succession. ![]() The guest bathroom has a manual switch with a countdown timer. If you don't want the light on for a night visit, you close your eyes, let it trigger and then push the manual button to switch it back off. The kids' bathroom has a motion timer because they can't be trained to turn off the lights at night. IMO it's not hard to train your body to wait until morning for big business. They're bright enough for #1 but insufficient for #2 paper inspection requirements. Our master bathroom I put in a light switch with a built-in night light. Seems proximity or presence are the way to go, but doesn’t seem as if there are ones to buy. It’s annoying at night to have the lights on for 5 mins even though I set them to dim. BUT, the issue I have is that I would like the lights to turn off sooner if in not pooping. So a number of people have asked, why not set the timer longer. One of the things I love about HA is solving random “problems”. Ultimate issue is to have lights turn off sooner when not pooping.Įdit 2: I totally appreciate all the ideas. Desire is nothing to plug in (battery operated), no buttons pushed, nothing based on door being closed. Thinking two motion sensors the answer here? Or some type of thermal occupancy sensor which I can't see being all that cheap?Įdit: this is my Master Bath so nobody else using. I'd just rather have more granular control and don't know if that's possible. Sure I could set the lights to turn off 5 minutes after no motion but that is annoying at night if I'm just going in real quick (otherwise known as peeing) but yes I could set the timer lower at night. I have a hue motion sensor perpendicular to me. Just set up home assistant and this is the issue I would like more control over. ![]() Yep, title says it all and figured Reddit was the place to ask.
